Tshangu Lake: A must see place of Sikkim

From the capital of Sikkim, Gangtok, several tours are conducted throughout the year. One of the major tour is Tshangu tour.

Tshangu is actually known as Tshangu Lake which has an altitude of 12,000 ft and it will take nearly 2 hrs to reach Tshangu from Gangtok. After reaching that place you will see a large lake in adjacent to which there is wide range of hill covered with snow. In the winter season the lake sometimes get freezed. Even some people walks through the frozen lake at that time.

In the month of March, Tshangu is fully covered with snow. At one side of the lake, there are several places to sit. People can trek on that hill and on the way you will find snow, scattered everywhere.

There is a small market in Tshangu. If you are lucky then you can get the snowfall there at the day time. Specially in the month of Jule-July the chance is high to see snowfall in the day time. In winter the temperature at that place remains near to 1 degree C or even low in the day time and if you trek to the hill then it will be as low as -7 degree C.
